Bout of Books 34 Wrap Up

I didn't read nearly as much for this Bout of Books as I did for the one in January but I'm OK with that. It was a weird week with lots of stuff going on that interfered with blocking time for reading. I just wasn't in the mood to force reading time. All in all I did read more than I had in recent weeks so I'm calling that a win.

I ended up with a total of 13 hours and 25 minutes of reading. I finished the audiobook and print book I'd already started and also finished another print book

I finished The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels by India Hilton which was completely delightful.
I finished listening to And the Rest is History by Jodi Taylor narrated by Zara Ramm. It's a fun time traveling adventure series.
I also read The Swimmers by Julie Otsuka. Like her first two books, this one is short but there is much more story to be interpreted between the spare writing than the page total would indicate. It's a small book that leaves a large impression.

I hope you had a great Bout of Books.

I'm looking forward to doing this again starting August 15th

Bout of Books 34 Updates

This post will serve as my update post for Bout of Books 34. I will post my daily reading for Monday through Saturday. Sunday's reading will be included in my final wrap up post next Monday. I don't track pages read because with audiobooks that's just silly. I do track my total time spent reading.

Monday Reading:

I had a rather underwhelming kickoff to Bout of Books this time around. We had been at the coast for a long weekend and Monday was time to head home. So between packing up, driving home with several stops for meals and errands, then unpacking once we got home there was very little reading time.

I did manage 48 minutes of total reading time so it wasn’t a completely book free day. I’m reading The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels by India Hilton and it’s utterly delightful.

Tuesday Reading:

Today I had several appointments and errands all over different parts of town so at least that meant I got some quality audiobook time.

I had a total of 2 hours and 52 minutes of reading.
1 hour of that was print reading in The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels.
1 hour and 52 minutes was listening to And the Rest is History by Jodi Taylor narrated by Zara Ramm. It’s the 8th book in her Chronicles of St. Mary’s series bout a group of time traveling historians.

Wednesday Reading:

2 hours and 25 minutes of reading for Wednesday.
28 minutes of that was listening to And the Rest is History
1 hour and 57 minutes of reading Thw Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels

Thursday Reading:

A busy day of doing things other than reading. I ended up with a total of 1 hour and 40 minutes of reading.
36 minutes of that was listening to And the Rest is History
The remaining hour and 4 minutes was print reading. I finished The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels. It was whimsical, adventurous, funny, witty, and just delightful. I started The Swimmers by Julie Otsuka. I liked her first two books quite a bit and have been looking forward to starting this one.

Friday Reading:

2 hours and 1 minute of reading.
36 minutes of that was listening to And the Rest is History
1 hour and 26 minutes of reading The Swimmers.

Saturday Reading:

Eurovision was in so that’s how I spent my afternoon instead of reading. And I don’t regret it one bit. Eurovision is so delightfully bananas

1 hour and 43 minutes of reading.
1 hour and 20 minutes of that was listening to And the Rest is History while working on a jigsaw puzzle.
23 minutes was reading The Swimmers.

Bout of Books 33 Wrap Up

I had a great week of reading. One of the best Bout of Books I've ever had in terms of time spent reading. I averaged over three hours per day of reading.

2. The Housewife Assassin's Killer App by Josie Brown
3. In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren
4. The Joy and Light Bus Company by Alexander McCall Smith narrated by Bianca Amato

Books I started but haven't finished yet:

Bout of Books 33 Updates

This post will serve as my update post for Bout of Books 33. I will post my daily reading for Monday through Saturday. Sunday's reading will be included in my final wrap up post next Monday. I don't track pages read because with audiobooks that's just silly. I do track my total time spent reading.

Monday Reading:

I had a total of 2 hours and 40 minutes of reading today.

I listened to audiobooks for 38 minutes. I finished listening to My Name is Markham by Jodi Taylor, narrated by Piers Wehner. it’s a short story from Taylor’s Chronicles of St. Mary’s time travel adventure series. It was a lot of fun (just like the rest of the series. I started listening to The Joy and Light Bus Company by Alexander McCall Smith narrated by Bianca Amato. This is the 22nd book in the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series.  I have listened to the whole series except the last book. I adored Lisette Lecat’s narration of the books but they changed narrators with book 21. The reviews clearly indicated that the new narrator was not good so I read the print edition of that book. With this new one there is once again a new narrator but the reviews are much more positive this time around. I only listened to a little bit of the book but so far I’m enjoying listening to Bianca Amato.

In print, I read for 2 hour and 2 minutes. I finished reading The Housewife Assassin’s Killer App by Josie Brown. This series is completely ridiculous but a lot of fun. I also read some of In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren. I started it before Christmas but didn’t get very far before getting sidetracked with holiday stuff.

Tuesday Reading:

Today’s reading was all print reading with no audiobook time. I read for a total of 3 hours and 10 minutes. All of that time was reading In a Holidaze.  It’s been a.fun book and I’m looking forward to seeing how it ends tomorrow.

Wednesday Reading:

Today I got 4 hours and 19 minutes of reading in. Yay. 2 hours and 30 minutes of that was print reading. I finished reading In a Holidaze. It was a fun, cute holiday Rom Com. I started reading Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne. We started watching the Masterpiece TV adaptation starring David Tennant. and I realized that I'd never read the book. Luckily the ebook was available from the library.

I listened to my audiobook for and hour and 48 minutes. I started a new jigsaw puzzle and that always means good audiobook time.

Thursday Reading:

Today my to do list interfered with my reading time but I still managed to get a total of 2 hours and 48 minutes of reading.

48 minutes of that was listening to my audiobook. I’m enjoying listening to Bianca Amato narrate The Joy and Light Bus Company.

The remaining 2 hours was reading Around the World in 80 Days. I’m glad I’m finally reading this one.

Friday Reading:

I managed 3 hours and 25 minutes of reading today.

2 hours and 43 minutes of that was listening to my audiobook while running errands and working in a jigsaw puzzle.

42 minutes was reading Around the World in 80 Days.

Saturday Reading:

Today I got 3 hours and 27 minutes of reading in.

I listened to my audiobook for 2 hours and 8 minutes while working on my jigsaw puzzle.

I read Around the World in 80 Days for an hour and19 minutes.

Bout of Books 32 Wrap Up

I had a decent week of reading. I got a little busier than expected with stuff that interfered with my reading but I still managed nearly 2 hours of reading every day. Considering how much I've struggled with reading since the pandemic, I'm calling that a win.

This week I read for a total of 13 hours and 47 minutes.

I finished the two books I was already reading and finished another one. I also started fourth book.

Books I finished:
  1. Sarum by Edward Rutherfurd
  2. What Could Possibly Go Wrong by Jodi Taylor, narrated by Zara Ramm
  3. The Housewife Assassin's Vacation to Die for by Josie Brown
Book I started but haven't finished:
  1. Manners & Mutiny by Gail Carriger
I hope you had a great Bout of Books.

Here's to doing this again starting January 3rd.
